Revision-lesson:
The dual form: difference between ان or ين
- ان – subject + predicate
- example: the two boys are tall – al-waladani tawilani
- remark: if the noun (boys) and the adjective (tall) are the subject and predicate in the sentence, then use of ان AND both will get this ending!
Or
- ين
- example: I’m with the two tall boys – ana ma al-waladini al-tawilini
- remark: if the noun and adjective are coming after a preposition or idafa or other cases, then ending of ين for both.
2 kinds of plurals in Arabic: Internal & External
- Internal: prefix or between-fix; no clear rule but breaking the word to get the plural form
- External: suffix, meaning that something is added at the end of a noun or adjective (p+m/ p+f)
Plural form of masculine: ون or ين
- ون
- example: the two teachers are big – al-mudarrisun kabirun
- remark: if the noun and the adjective are the subject and predicate in the sentence, then use of ون AND both will get this ending!
Or
- ين
- example: I’m with the two big teachers – ana ma al-mudarrisin al-kabirin
- remark: if the noun and adjective are coming after a preposition or idafa or other cases, then ending of ين for both
Plural form of feminine: ات (ة goes away)
- انُ or انِ
- example 1: the two teachers are pretty – al-mudarrisatu jamilatu
- remark: if the noun and the adjective are the subject and predicate in the sentence, then use of انُ AND both will get this ending!
Or
- Example 2: I’m with the two pretty teachers – ana ma al-mudarrisati al-jamilati
- remark: if the noun and adjective are coming after a preposition or idafa or other cases, then ending of انِ for both
The ending rule with numbers:
1. m – m / f – f
2. the dual rules (f or m)
3. – 10. m – f / f – m
- example: seven dogs, dogs is masculine, meaning that seven gets feminine ending of ة
- remark:
1. if the word is masculine, the number gets feminine
2. if the word is feminine, the number gets masculine

3) m+p: 2 sentences (2 cases)
4) m+f : 2 sentences (2 cases)
